The idea behind the STAGE artwork by ceramic artist Kirsi Kivivirta in the “Human Approach”

The name of this large ceramic wallpiece is STAGE. It is made by hand of hundreds of
smaller puzzlelike porcelain pieces. In the image you can see a strong visual perspective with waterdrops, which are flowing and making streams. This artwork is a fictional venue for people to come together and it gives frames for new openings and ideas. I have a very close connection to Aalto University. It is the place where I started my studies in the early 80s. After I graduated, I was invited to work as a lecturer for more than 10 years in the
Department of Ceramics and Glass in 1990s. For me the art concept Human Approach means being aware of other people. It’s a question of being a part of community, not so much a question of someone’s individual goals.
