Target Dupe | Christmas Decor 2019

Hey everyone, welcome back to my channel. So I was in Target and I saw this little Lantern terrarium thing or whatever you want to call it and they had it for sale for $25 and I thought that I could recreate it with some items that I already have at home and with a few new items from the Dollar Tree and Also some things from Target itself. So this does light up and Like I said it is $25 So come with me as I try to recreate this using items from Dollar Tree Target and the 99 cent store This did come from the 99-cent store I will link the video below to show you how I gave it a galvanized metal. Look it was all white And I used it in a previous DIY. It has this hole at the bottom, which is really convenient because That’s what I’m going to use to feed the lights through the bottom. It did come with two plastic inserts I left the one at the bottom in and I took the one at the top out These are the lights that I’m going to use I got those from the Dollar Tree as well as these miniature trees the white ones I already had the green ones. I went and purchased and of course, those are each dollar per pack And for the lights I am going to add batteries, but first I need to take a little screwdriver To unlock it right there, you know dollar trees lights are like that. So after I’ve done that I turn them on to make sure that they’re working and I’m going to just feed them through the bottom if You wanted to use picture frames to make this terrarium? Lantern whatever we’re calling this you can certainly do so Now when you’re wrapping the trees with the lights Start at the top and work your way to the bottom and the reason why you want to do that is because you want to make it easier to flow the rest of the lights around the terrarium So I started at the top And Worked my way down Now I’m going to glue the tree into place You don’t have to glue anything down if you don’t want to if it’s not going to move around a lot You probably don’t have to but I just wanted to ensure that these things stayed in place for this little white tree I did take the bottom off of it and Glued it down and I’m going to wrap the lights around the next largest tree For the Dollar Tree lights, there are only about 10 lights. I believe per strand of lights So if you wanted to use multiple strands of light you could certainly do that But I just used the wine so you just have to be strategic about how you use the lights Where you place them because you want the lights to go all the way around So that’s what it looks like so far now on the original lantern or a terrarium or whatever we’re calling it there is Just one window in the front. So I use some pliers To take off this little metal part in the front. It was pretty pliable It just took a little elbow grease to do. There’s also the same metal line running down the back I did not take that one off and there’s one also on the top. I left that one as well But as you can see now there’s just one window there Now for the truck that I’m going to use I bought this three, I’m sorry It was $5 a five dollar ornament from Target They did have a red one and it was a larger one but I decided on the white one and I also bought this 2-pack of deer ornaments from Target as well. These were three dollars so First I’m going to glue the little deer down into the terrarium or Lantern or whatever. We’re calling this Comment below and tell me what this is. Is it a lantern is it a terrarium? What would you call it? Now? I’m going to pour in some Buffalo snow dollar treatise. Oh this This particular bag, I believe I got from Michael’s I couldn’t find the bag of my dollar tree buffalo snow, but it’s the exact same thing and I’m going to take my truck and just place it in the little deer is not as Heavy as the truck. The truck ornament is pretty heavy. So wherever you place that it’s going to stay For the battery pack, I’m going to go ahead and glue it to the bat This was completely optional I found this pack of mini reeds at the target dollar spot and I hot-glued that on the front and then I just balled up a little piece of tissue and Plugged the hole up in the back so that none of the fake snow would come out of the back So just a reminder this is what the target version looked like again, it was $25 it is much Larger than my version This is how my version turned out I think it is just as cute and just as darling I know the scale between the deer and the truck The truck is much smaller than the deer, but it’s okay. It’s Christmas anything goes right? So drop a comment below and let me know how you think this version of The target Lantern turned out. Like I said, you can add more lights You can even buy the string lights from Target They also sell string lights that twinkle I actually used those twinkle lights in my last video when I made a close Featuring a deer in these same white trees from Dollar Tree I’ll link that video for you below if you haven’t seen that as well but I really really like how this turned out Thank you guys so much for joining me today. I wish we had a 99cents store! That's adorable💗 a quick tip to get galvanized look is to use aluminum foil that's been run through the dishwasher! The detergent creates a dull uneven finish that doesn't come OFF! Just cut it onto strips and glue in place! Its what I do to aluminum cake/baking pans to make galvanized tiered trays!
As far as making this version I'm going to use Nik the Booksmiths box and your video as inspiration💗
The only thing I'm doing differently is spraying my trees with hair spray then dusting them with the snow but yours turned out SooOOOooo beautiful!!!
Thanks for the inspiration sweetie and I hope you're having a blessed day and please know you're in my prayers because I don't want what happened to dim your light and love for the holidays!!! One of the things I did to feel safe, was to get motion activated air in a can and place it right next to my front door and on a shelf by my front porch door, so someone coming in gets blasted in the face with AIR! It shocks them so much, because they're not expecting it and by that point it fr€akS them out so much they immediately leave!!! I lived in an apartment and my porch was broken into regularly😒 but the second I added that can😁 it immediately stopped because THEIR reaction is so obviously startled, if they lived there they wouldn't be and that's the ONE thing they don't want is ATTENTION!!!!!
Sorry to bring this up but I just wanted you to know we're praying for you and a sly little idea that might help you feel safe🤗 XOXOXOXO from Florida and God bless you!

Love it! This is so cute! I found several similar trucks in red at Dollar General for $1 each and if you can find it the spring gnome/fairy minature collection from DT had a little deer in it alternatively you could swap out the deer for one of the DT cobblestone corner pieces such as the snowman, santa or people sitting on a bench. The light poles in that set would also be super cute in this! Job well done! I adore this

  39. Design & DIYs with Indira says:

Hey everyone, I forgot to mention that you can absolutely make this project for under $10 if you have stores that sell the truck ornaments/figures for less than what Target sells them for. Dollar Tree does sell the red truck ornaments, but they are not three dimensional, they're flat. I hope you enjoy the video and don't forget to subscribe for more Christmas DIYs! 🙂
