Sculptors were able to express their art work at the 2019 Texas Sandfest in Port Aransas

there are massive crowds on the beach in Port Aransas today and many of those people aren’t there just to swim they’re checking out the creative works of art for this year’s sand fest which is one of poor day’s biggest events every year Chris 6 News reporter Jeremiah Marshall was there today and shows us more all I’m hoping we win we’ve got some good competition but I’m hoping at either first or second places what we hope to get for it was a race against time for these sculptors as they were getting ready to show the judges their finished masterpiece sand Fest was filled with creative minds at work from sea turtles detailed design sandcastles to even a jack rabbit we wanted to an an animal pun so we’ve looked them up online and we came up with this fluffy so it’s a sloth in a coffee cup juniors from the Austin water school share what it takes to participate in the competition like the Texas sand fest hours of shovelling and mixing and to make the bases and everything and then it’s just carving as fast as you can some even share how their sculptures speak personal to them like your is Kevin’s he traveled all the way from the Netherlands to participate in this competition his work of art was created for someone close to his heart it’s sad for my girlfriend this was the second time Kevin took part in the Texas and Fest in his very first year he won he says he’s not all that good at speaking however with this competition he says he’s able to speak through his artwork these kind of events is for me to express whatever I want Jeremiah Marshall Chris 6 News all right very nice work out there
