NEA Chairman Jane Chu asks, “What’s your arts story?”

HELLO. I’M JANE CHU, CHAIRMAN OF THE NATIONAL
ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS, YOUR FEDERAL ARTS AGENCY. THE NEA TURNS 50 YEARS OLD ON SEPTEMBER 29TH,
AND TO CELEBRATE THIS MILESTONE, WE WANT TO SHARE YOUR STORIES ABOUT HOW THE ARTS HAVE
TOUCHED YOUR LIFE. AND TO DO THIS, WE NEED YOUR HELP. WE RECENTLY LAUNCHED A SECTION ON THE NEA
WEBSITE WHERE YOU CAN SHARE YOUR STORIES. GO TO ARTS-DOT-GOV & CLICK ON THE BOX AT THE
TOP OF THE PAGE THAT SAYS, “HELP US CELEBRATE OUR 50TH ANNIVERSARY.” THIS WILL TAKE YOU TO A SECTION WHERE YOU
CAN UPLOAD VIDEO, OR AUDIO CONTENT RECOUNTING
A FAVORITE STORY ABOUT YOUR ARTS EXPERIENCES,
OR UPLOAD A FEW PHOTOS; OR JUST WRITE UP YOUR THOUGHTS AND HIT SUBMIT. DURING THE ANNIVERSARY YEAR, WE’LL SHARE THESE
STORIES ON A SPECIAL SECTION OF OUR WEBSITE, AND ACROSS OUR SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS. YOUR STORY WILL BECOME A PIECE OF OUR COLLECTIVE
HISTORY OF HOW THE ARTS ARE SOMETHING SPECIAL AND MEANINGFUL TO US ALL. SO, WHAT’S YOUR ARTS STORY? MAYBE YOU FELL IN LOVE WITH PAINT AS A KID.
MAYBE IT WAS HEARING A CERTAIN SONG ON YOUR IPOD? MAYBE YOU’RE INSPIRED BY SMART DESIGN
AND CREATIVE PLACEMAKING. OR MAYBE YOU JUST LOVE TO DANCE. HOW HAVE THE ARTS MADE AN IMPACT ON YOU OR
YOUR COMMUNITY? PLEASE FOLLOW THE LINK ON THE SCREEN TO LET
AMERICA KNOW. AFTER ALL, THE ARTS BELONG TO ALL OF US.
