On behalf of Expert Village, I am Debbie Reeves
at John’s Design Center and I am here to tell you about custom picture framing. In framing,
we have many different aspects. We have matting. We have custom framing. We have ready-mades;
standard sized frames. We have different kinds of glass. We have regular glass, non-glare
glass, anti-reflection glass and museum glass. This is a demonstration of the three different
types of glass. The first one is non-glare. It works good on most pictures. Then, we have
anti-reflection glass, which is the one in the center. The one on the right is regular.
The anti-reflection glass cuts the UV so that it protects the color of your picture so that
it won’t fade. Then you have museum glass which is one of the best. Also, we have designs
that you can do in the matting. You’ll see one right here. This is an original watercolor
and we’ve cut in a lizard into the matting. We also have an ancient piece of pottery which
is almost a three dimensional look. There are many, many different choices of custom
framing. You have old looking frames that look like they might have come from Italy.
We have metal frames that you could put on possibly black and white photographs, on posters.
You can take a picture that is very, very simple and by putting just the right frame
and matting on it, you can make it a spectacular picture. So, sometimes people will come in
and they’ll say “I want to put a very, very simple frame on this because I don’t want
to take away from the picture.” But, sometimes, putting a very, very simple frame actually
destroys a picture. Sometimes, you need something with a little more design to make that picture
just stand out.
